most were driven by the ring masters, walther rohl or Hans von sauma (spelling of names?)įrom my recollection of this site ( there was also a big article about it in EVO magazine last year):įastest known record was the jaguar xj220- with 7 minutes 49Ī r33 skyline gtr has been recorded at 7:56 but this is under dispute since many people believe it was running on racing slicks- nonetheless the record still stands in the record books. ![]() There used to be a huge site on current production car records at the ring. That's why I suggested that Best Motoring and HOt Version do the kind of testing where ONE driver gets to drive DIFFERENT cars on the SAME track to see which car is the fastest. "Whatever the case, the video wouldn't do much in this argument because it used different drivers in each car (obviously) and it shows the S and S-Zero, not the R. Anyway, I'm going to go back and watch this program again to see what he actually came up with. As I recalled the R34 didn't succeded in beating the NSX-R in ANY of the performance category I mentioned above. In this program Gan-san tested it in the 0-100kph acceleration times, 0-400meter times, maxed out speed, braking distance from 100kph to Zero (if I remembered it right), run the R34 on the Sugo(?) course against R32 and R33, and finally lap the Sugo (?) course again in the R34 in an attempt to break his previous stock car record on this same course with the NSX-R a while back. But every now and then the Bestmotoring series will focus on one car at a time, like this R34 special that I watched. While it's very exciting to watch, I agree with you on the point that it's not the 100% sure-fire way to showcase a car's true performance potential. It's a ritual practice for them to compare different cars thru means of "duking it out" simultaneously on the same racetrack with different drivers in different types of cars. Sounds like you've seen one of them Bestmotoring or Hot Version monthly reviews. From what I remember about the video though, I don't think the Zero had enough power to keep up with the R34 (although that's hard to differentiate from driver skill)." "Also, I think the NSX's they used were the NSX-S and the S-Zero (it's been a while since I watched it). 16 second and stock NSX-R did it in 8 min. That's why I don't mind a short clip of it that shows only the lap times of the stock R34 wrapping up the Nurburgring course, kinda like what Bestmotoring did with the NSX debut and NSX-R special, where the stock 1990 NSX did a 8 min. The video is pretty large, if you haven't figured it out already. Unfortunately, I'm currently on a 56k connection. "More specifically, I've actually watched the video and I might even have it somewhere on my hd. I'm just saying that so that I can get skyline fans p'd off enough to do something about hosting the vids. ![]() "Simply because nobody has presented the video does not mean it doesn't exist. There's no reason to believe that the stock R34 can top the stock NSX-R in this respective category of performance based on a very respected and highly skilled pro driver's personal assesment based on his side-by-side comparisons of the 2 cars. suggested by one of the R34 fans here was not a stock car but rather a highly modified and tuned R34. ![]() I will also conclude that the alleged record time by a stock R34 at the ring that was beating the stock NSX-R lap time of 8 min.3 sec. posted by NSX-R at Nurburgring back in 1993 or any other track, road or street course for that matter. Just tell me where I can get a copy of this video OR anything that's printed on paper from a reputable source so I can purchase one on my own, otherwise then I'll have to conclude that the stock R34 didn't, nor ever will be able to, best the laptime of 8" 3 sec. So where's the proof, R34 fans? No one's hosting the videos? Ok, how about this.
